The CFO appointment is the latest in a series of management changes within the Timberwolves-Lynx organization over the past year.

The NBA Board of Governors approved in June 2025 the$1.5 billion acquisition of the teamsby Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, following a multi-year process that included arbitration disputes between the buyers and former owner Glen Taylor.

In August 2025, the organizationnamed Matthew Caldwellas CEO. Caldwell previously served as CEO of the Florida Panthers.

Forbes estimates the Timberwolves'valuation at $3.6 billion, up from roughly $1.1 billion in 2016, while the Lynx are valued at approximately$320 million

Dillon joins the organization as the Timberwolves have become a consistent contender in the Western Conference in recent years, while the Lynx rank among the WNBA's top teams.

Before serving as the Penguins' CFO, Dillon spent eight years with the Houston Astros, rising to vice president of business strategy and analytics. He also founded SimpleSeats.com, a sports ticketing platform.

Earlier in his career, Dillon worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, advising clients across industries on growth strategy, M&A, and corporate strategy.

"He is a dynamic, forward-thinking executive whose experience and strategic mindset will strengthen our leadership team and help position us for the future."

In his new role, Dillon will oversee accounting and finance, facilities, information technology, and business strategy and analytics, according to the press release.
