China announces additional tariffs on some U.S. goods in response to Trump's executive order
China's Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday that it will impose additional tariffs on certain goods originating from the United States starting February 10, with a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas, and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, and some automobiles. This move is in response to the Trump administration's tariff increases. Meanwhile, China announced export controls on metals such as tungsten and tellurium.

According to the announcement, a 15% tariff will be imposed on coal and liquefied natural gas, and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, and certain automobiles.
China's Ministry of Commerce, inanother announcement, stated that it will impose export controls on certain metals such as tungsten and tellurium.
This follows U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order on Saturday imposing a 10% tariff on goods imported from China, while tariff measures on Canada and Mexicowere later postponed. The additional tariffs on China took effect on Tuesday.
The Trump administrationhas described the tariff measuresas a means of holding these countries accountable for preventing fentanyl from flowing into U.S. borders. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, at apress conference on Sunday (February 2), statedthat China has provided substantial anti-drug cooperation support to the United States.
The spokesperson said: "China urges the U.S. to correct its erroneous practices, maintain the hard-won good situation of Sino-U.S. anti-drug cooperation, and promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Sino-U.S. relations."
