Turner, 50, joined Yum as CFO in 2019 and also took on the role of Chief Franchise Officer in 2024. Before joining Yum, Turner held various executive positions at PepsiCo, including SVP and General Manager of the global Walmart team, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In addition to the $1.1 million base salary, Turner will receive an annual cash bonus with a target value of 200% of his base salary, up to three times the target bonus, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday.

He will also receive a 2025 long-term equity incentive award with a total value of $1.5 million, consisting of stock appreciation rights (25%), restricted stock units (25%), and performance stock units (50%), covering the 2025-2027 performance period. According to the filing, his 2026 long-term equity award is expected to have a total value of $10.1 million, composed of the same proportions of RSUs, PSUs, and stock appreciation rights.

The CEO appointment comes as the restaurant brand operator reported total revenue of $1.7 billion for the most recent quarter ending March 31, up 12% year over year. Meanwhile, its net income fell 19% to $253 million, according to its earnings report.

The company has also announced a series of major changes and initiatives this year, including plans to establish two new headquarters in Irvine, California, and Plano, Texas, the company said in a February press release.

Yum has also taken multiple steps to further integrate AI technology into its restaurants, announcing in March a partnership with chipmaker NVIDIA to "accelerate the development of innovative AI technologies for Yum! restaurants worldwide," according to a press release at the time.

During his tenure as CFO, Turner played a key role in "driving decisive actions that leverage the scale of Yum!," including accelerating digital and technology transformation efforts, the company said.

This includes helping drive initiatives such as "Byte by Yum!," an AI-powered platform that the restaurant operator launched in February. The platform, available to franchisees of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and The Habit Burger Grill, consolidates features such as online and mobile ordering, inventory and labor management, and menu management into one place for franchisees.

The Byte by Yum! platform has already shown results, with CEO Gibbs stating on the first-quarter earnings call on April 30 that the company's digital sales grew 12% year over year in the quarter, according to a transcript from Seeking Alpha.

Yum Brands declined to comment further beyond its press release.
